Psychophysiological detection of deception: A personal overview of 4 decades of research

As I will be closing my lab after over four decades of research, I will devote this presentation to an overview of my research on psychophysiological detection of deception and concealed memories. I will discuss methods of psychophysiological detection focusing mainly on a theoretically-based method labeled the Concealed Information Test (CIT). Basic research focusing on orienting response and habituation processes and on the mechanism underlying the CIT will be reviewed and discussed. Finally, applied research, with an emphasis on the complex relations between science and its forensic applications will be also reviewed and discussed.
